A stipend of $60,000 for individuals ($90,000 for 2- person partnerships) paid in four equal installments over two years. Awards to doctoral students are given in memory of Francois Fiessinger, P.E., Ph.D., a graduate of Rutgers University, who was a founding director of the foundation; and by the Environmental Research and Education Foundation. The selected students study in a non-degree program for an academic year at an American university or community college. When Global UGRAD students return to finish college in their home countries, they share what they have learned and contribute to the development of their own communities. This is open to students of Eurasia to first-, second-, and third-year undergraduate students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Its goal is to foster a new generation of explorers dedicated to the advancement of the scientific knowledge of our world. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. We recommend keeping your budget realistic.
The average award is approximately $1,500. Only a few grants may be awarded at the $5,000 level.
